The bulk of the papers relate to Jean Lloyd-Jones's work with the Iowa Peace Institute although her involvement with International Women's Year in 1977, the League of Women Voters, and the Iowa legislature (including materials from her three campaigns, one unsuccessful) is also documented. A series of speeches that Lloyd-Jones has given is also available.

Jean Lloyd-Jones, Iowa legislator, feminist, and peace activist, has been active in many local and national civic and political organizations since 1965. She served as state representative from 1978 to 1989 and state senator from 1989 to 1994. From 1985 to 1991, she was also president of the Iowa Peace Institute in Grinnell, Iowa.
